Read Luke 13:18-21

Mustard Seed - Read Matt. 13:31-32 and compare to verse 19 The kingdom started small, but

  it grows 

 

  The birds of the air nested in its branches - Read Eph. 2:1-2 - Satan is described here as the  

    prince of the power of the air -the phrase 'birds of the air' is symbolically referring unbelievers,

    those who are of the world- even they will benefit from the presence of God's kingdom (they

     nested in its branches) 

 

Leaven - The influence of the kingdom spreads 

 

  Ironically, leaven is often used as a metaphor for sin in the Bible 

 

  For example, Luke 12:1 says "Beware the leaven of the Pharisees." 

 

   However, in this instance it is used to describe how the good influence of the kingdom will

    spread
