Bible Study
What is the Bible?
-
It is the vessel through which God has chosen to reveal Himself to us.
-
The Bible is the story of God's plan for the redemption of mankind. It gives us the Gospel of our salvation through Jesus Christ.
-
The Bible is not just any old book—it is the Word of God. God communicates to us through the Scriptures.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." - II Timothy 3:16-17

-
The Bible is the means by which we build our faith.

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

"And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6
Why study the Bible?
-
A casual, once through reading of the Bible will only give you surface level knowledge and limited comprehension. But as you read and study the Bible, you will find that there are deeper levels of understanding.
-
As you read a certain passage of Scripture multiple times, over the course of time, you'll often come across something new that you've never noticed before.
-
Each Bible passage is written within its own context, but you can draw out certain truths from each passage that you will also find in other parts of Scripture. When you compare Scripture to Scripture, you will gain new insights and a more complete understanding of God's Word.
-
Additionally, when you research the history, culture, and languages of Biblical times, many passages from the Bible will have a deeper meaning to you.
What are the benefits of participating in a Group Bible Study?
-
It follows Jesus' example.
-
It creates meaningful connections: Humans were not designed to be alone. We were made to be dependent on God first, but also on one another. In an increasingly virtual world—where social media interactions can often be superficial and increase feelings of isolation—small group Bible study offers a powerful means of forging deep and life-giving connections with other believers.
-
It provides necessary encouragement.
-
It keeps us accountable.
What are the personal benefits of participating in a Group Bible Study?
-
The more you know about God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the more you can develop your relationship with Him. Your love for Him and your trust in Him will grow.
-
It directs us in wisdom. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments." - Psalm 111:10
-
It is transformational!
We can spend a lifetime in deep study of the Scriptures and we will never have full knowledge or understanding of everything. There will always be something left for us to learn. That's part of what keeps Bible Study exciting!
Bible Study at Red Church
The Bible study group meets on Sundays after worship, from 11:45-12:45. We are currently doing a study on how to pray. We welcome anyone who would like to join us! It doesn't matter if you aren't in the group when we start a new study –you can come at any time.
From members of the group...
"As a Bible study member, I feel comfortable in openly expressing my thoughts in a group setting. We are all learning about God's love for us through each other's life experiences. Our study group brings light to how relevant the Bible is in today's times."

"Somewhere in this book (the Bible) you will find yourself."
