We have heard the story of the woman at the well every three years. But sometimes we miss the point. Both Jesus and the woman dared—they were brave enough, had the courage to step over boundaries and speak words of truth and invitation. Jesus broke all kinds of rules at the well: speaking to a Samaritan, a woman, inviting a woman of loose morals to hear God’s word of grace, offering her the gift of living water. The woman dared ridicule to go to the town and tell them that she had found the Messiah. Jesus invites us to share that invitation to God’s love and grace with all we meet. Dare to invite others to come and see the Messiah.
