Fired Up!

Luke 12:49 “I have come to cast fire upon the earth, and how I wish it were already ablaze!”

When we ignore the fire Jesus brought us, we are virtually saying, “Your sacrifice does not matter.”  My complacency, my contentedness with the status quo is the priority.  Jesus, you could come and die on the cross a thousand times, and it really wouldn’t make a difference to me.”

Oh my God, you are likely thinking.  I would never say that.  That’s almost blasphemous.  Sorry to say, actions are stronger than words, and this is what our actions or lack of them are truly saying.  “Jesus, what you did, does not matter.”

The Apostle Paul wrote in I Thessalonians 5:19. “Don’t put out the Spirit’s fire.” For him to write that, he must have seen that happening.  Already.   Spiritual fervor and fire can be extinguished by simple apathy.

Can you make an impact on the evil in this world this week?  Starting with your only life but reaching beyond to do one thing to make a difference.  Ask yourself what do you need to light the fire up again.

Jesus came to be a holy flamethrower! Let’s keep up his work by lighting spiritual fires.  Let’s bring the burning, exciting, dynamic presence of God into the lives of ourselves and beyond, into our neighborhood and the world. As we start the new school year, let us remember. Nothing is impossible! One light at a time.                                    Fire up!
