Sermon Notes
August 6, 2023

Rev. Dr. Jan Remer-Osborn

Thoughts from the sermon, “The Mind of Christ”

The mystery of God is revealed through Jesus Christ, Paul tells us. “But we speak God's wisdom, secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.”  God’s wisdom is expressed by Jesus. God’s mind flows through the mind of Jesus. It is lived out by Jesus.  It is loved out by Jesus and revealed from the outpouring of Jesus’ mind and soul.  Through words, deeds, and the love of all humanity Jesus shows us God.  Jesus  -  a person of color, a Jew, born homeless, a criminal at birth, a refugee, a foreigner, a target of oppression, a rebel who died a traitor’s death  - Jesus the Christ.

The mind of Jesus did not develop in a vacuum.  He, like us, encountered evil in his society.  Yet, unlike us, Jesus did not think malicious thoughts.  He did not plan or execute immoral responses.  Human and Godly at the same time, he was without sin.  Through Christ we become a new creation, forgiven of sin.  God has great expectations for us.  For we now can have a mind like Christ.
